What Emergency AC Repair Costs in Dubai, Fault by Fault
Nobody can quote your exact repair over the phone, and any company that promises a final number before seeing the unit is guessing. What they can tell you is the price band, because the same six or seven faults account for almost every emergency callout we attend in Dubai. These are our fixed 2026 rates for emergency AC repair in Dubai.
| Fault | Typical cost (AED) | Time on site |
|---|---|---|
| Diagnostic visit and minor fix | 149 | 30 to 45 min |
| Capacitor replacement | 180 to 280 | 30 min |
| Blocked drain line, water leaking indoors | 200 to 350 | 45 to 60 min |
| Thermostat or sensor replacement | 220 to 400 | 45 min |
| Fan motor replacement | 350 to 550 | 60 to 90 min |
| PCB or control board | 400 to 650 | 60 to 90 min |
| Refrigerant top-up with leak repair | 500 to 800 | 2 to 3 hours |
| Compressor replacement | 700 to 1,200 | 3 to 4 hours |
Two things skew those numbers in practice. Brand matters for parts: a PCB for a Daikin ducted system costs noticeably more than one for a mid-market split. And access matters for labour: a rooftop condenser on a Palm villa takes longer to reach than a balcony unit in Marina. Both should be explained to you before anyone starts work, not added to the invoice afterwards. For non-urgent faults, our standard AC repair in Dubai rates start lower.
If your problem is specifically no cold air, read why an AC blows warm air first. Roughly a third of those calls turn out to be a AED 149 fix.
Does an Emergency Callout at 3 AM Cost More in Dubai?
With us, no. Same rate at 3 AM, on a Friday, or on Eid. We think a surcharge for heat that arrives at night is a strange way to treat someone with a baby in a 34°C bedroom.
Across the market, though, night and holiday premiums of 25% to 50% are common, and they are rarely mentioned until the invoice. So ask two direct questions on the phone: is there a call-out fee, and is there a night, weekend or holiday surcharge. Get the answer before you give your address. If the person on the phone cannot answer that clearly, you have learned something useful about the company.
One more cost worth knowing: some firms charge a diagnostic fee and then do not deduct it from the repair. Ours is deducted in full if you go ahead with the work, which is the standard you should expect.
Four Things Worth Checking Before You Pay Anyone
Every summer we attend calls that were never a repair job. Two minutes here can save you AED 149.
- The breaker. Check the AC circuit in your DB panel. A tripped breaker after a power fluctuation is common in older Dubai buildings. Reset it once. If it trips again immediately, stop and call, because that is an electrical fault and not something to keep resetting.
- The remote and the mode. Fan mode and dry mode both blow air with no cooling, and both get selected by accident. Set cool, 22°C, high fan, and give it ten minutes.
- The filter. If it is grey and matted, airflow has collapsed. Rinse it, dry it fully, refit it. In a chiller or ducted building, also check that a supply grille has not been closed.
- The outdoor unit. Walk out and listen. If the fan spins but the compressor is silent, or you hear a hum and a click every few seconds, that is a real fault and worth the callout. If the whole unit is dead, go back to the breaker.
If you get cooling back, book a normal service instead of an emergency visit and pay less. If nothing changes, you have already given the technician half a diagnosis, which usually shortens the visit.
Emergency Tonight, or Wait Until Morning?
Call tonight if you smell burning, see sparking or scorch marks, have water running into ceilings or electrics, have an infant, an elderly resident or someone unwell in the property, or if indoor temperature is above 33°C and climbing. Cut power at the breaker in the burning or sparking cases and then call.
It can wait until morning if the AC still cools but weakly, if the noise is new but the unit is working, or if one room out of four is warm while the rest are fine. You will pay the same with us either way, but a morning slot means a longer, calmer visit and a better chance of parts being on the van.
Ice on the copper pipes is the awkward middle case. Switch the unit off so the coil can thaw, put a towel down, and book the first morning slot. Running a frozen system overnight is how a AED 250 airflow problem becomes a compressor bill. There is more detail in our guide to a frozen AC coil.
How to Tell a Fair Quote From a Bad One
After a few thousand callouts, the pattern is fairly consistent. A quote you can trust names the exact part, gives a labour figure, states the warranty in days, and is handed to you before work starts. A quote to walk away from does one of these:
- Gas every time. If a technician wants to add refrigerant without finding a leak, the gas is going to escape again. Sealed systems do not consume refrigerant.
- Compressor talk within ten minutes. Diagnosing a compressor properly means amp readings and pressure readings, not a quick look and a verdict.
- A price under AED 200 for gas refilling. That does not cover the refrigerant, let alone recovery and vacuum. Something is being skipped. Our AC gas refill prices page shows what the real numbers look like.
- No written warranty. Ask for the workmanship warranty in days. Ours is 90. Anyone refusing to put a number on it is telling you how confident they are.
- Cash only, no invoice. No invoice means no comeback if the same fault returns next week.
One Real Callout, With the Actual Numbers
A tenant in JLT called at 11:40 PM in July. Two bedrooms at 35°C, AC running, no cooling at all, and a quote of AED 1,600 for a compressor from a company that had visited that afternoon.
Our technician arrived at 12:25 AM. The compressor was fine. The run capacitor had failed, which is a AED 40 part that stops a compressor from starting under load, and the outdoor fan bearing was dry and noisy. Capacitor replaced, fan lubricated, amp draw checked against spec, cooling back at 20 minutes past one. The invoice was AED 240 including the night visit, with a 90 day warranty on the part.
That gap between AED 1,600 and AED 240 is the whole reason this article exists. Emergency does not mean you stop asking questions. It means you ask them faster.
If your AC is down right now, our line is answered by a person 24 hours a day and most Dubai callouts are attended within 45 to 60 minutes. See 24 hour emergency AC repair in Dubai for coverage and response times, or AC repair in Dubai for standard daytime bookings.
